Short biography

  • 1899 — Born in Bosanska Krupa on May 22nd.
  • 1914 — Arrested by Austro-Hungarian occupator as member of South Slavic liberation movement „Young Bosnia“.
  • 1919 — Finished Grammar School. Started painting studies.
  • 1921-1924 — Studies of painting in Krakow, Poland.
  • 1925 — First individual exhibition.
  • 1926-1929 — Stay in Paris, France.
  • 1930 — Appointed teacher of 1st Male Grammar School in Belgrade.
  • 1935 — Appointed expert teacher for ornamental drawing and aquarelle at Technical Faculty in Belgrade (Architecture Department).
  • 1938 — Marriage with Bosa Pavlović. Death of brother Stefan.
  • 1940 — Appointed fellow teacher of Academy of Visual Arts in Belgrade.
  • 1941-1944 — Imprisonment in German concentration camp in Dortmund.
  • 1945 — Continuing his work in Academy of Visual Arts in Belgrade, as fellow teacher.
  • 1947 — Marriage with Radmila Lozanić. Appointed professor Academy of Visual Arts in Belgrade.
  • 1949 — Birth of his daughter.
  • 1958 — Retirement.
  • 1961 — Died in Opatija, on December 9th.
